Everyone of the recipes below have been tested and tried on my personal dogs and foster dogs. You are welcome to use them, change them and improve them. If you have a really good dog treat recipe that you want to share; please send it to the address on our contact sheet or email it to me and I will post it. Once you make one patch your dog will be crying for more.

Apples & Cheddar

1/3 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
1/3 cup applesauce
1/3 cup water
1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1/2 cup oatmeal
1/4 cup Parmesan cheese

Preheat oven to 375 degrees:        Makes 1 1/2 dozen.

Combine the cheddar, applesauce and water in a small bowl.  Combine the flour and oatmeal in a large bowl.  Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and mix. Knead intro a dough and turn out onto a floured surface. Roll dough to about 1/4-inch thickness and   sprinkle with a little extra Parmesan cheese.  Cut with cookie cutters.

Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.



Cheese Bites

1 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup unbleached flour
1/4 cup cornmeal
1/4 cup Parmesan cheese
1/4 cup cheddar cheese
1 egg
3/4 cup water

Preheat oven to 325 degrees:        Makes 1 1/2 dozen.

Combine all ingredients in a large bowl.  Knead together until well mixed.  Turn out onto a flour surface and roll flat to about 1/4-inch thickness.  Sprinkle with a little extra Parmesan cheese.  Cut with cookie cutters.

Bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown.

 Sweet Bones


2 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons of molasses
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/2 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 cup wheat germ
1/2 cup brewers yeast

Preheat oven to 350 degrees:        Makes 1 1/2 dozen.

In a large bowl mix together honey, molasses, oil, milk and cinnamon.  Gradually add flour, yeast and wheat germ.  Roll dough to 1/4" thickness and cut into bone shapes (any shape may be used). 

Place on un-greased cookie sheet and bake for 20 minutes or until bottoms are brown.


Steak & Potato Biscuits


1/2 pound of round steak
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup whole-wheat flour
1/2 cup potato flour
1 tablespoon parsley flakes
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 cup wheat germ
1/3 cup vegetable oil
2 tablespoons sour cream
1 cup reserved beef liquid

Preheat oven to 350 degrees:        Makes 1 1/2 dozen.

Cut steak into strips and boil in 4 cups water.  When cooked, remove meat with tongs and put into a food processor.  Reserve 1 cup of the beef liquid.  Use food processor to finely chop the beef.

Combine dry ingredients in large bowl.  Add the beef, beef liquid, and sour cream.  Mix into a dough, trying not to over kneed.  Turn out dough onto floured surface and roll to 1/4-inch thickness.  Cut with cookie cutters dipped in flour.

Bake for 30 minutes or until firm.  Turn off oven and leave biscuits cooling in the oven for 1 more hour.
