Good Morning Deb and Kristy
This is a little note to both of you ….to say a WARM
AND WONDERFUL THANK YOU for our precious gift, and also a THANK YOU to both of you, for all or your time and energy you spend
protecting these beautiful dogs.
The puppy is just wonderful !!!!!
First of All Beuford is now Rubin ( Danny and I lost the vote…this is nothing
new :), our boys named him after the Gentle BIG Black Man, from American Idle.
The first night in his crate he cried some, the second night he cried a little
less. Ty made the comment last night, when he was off to bed, look Mom he knows we will be back. He was right,
the puppy slept until about 300 am, but I think Rubin thought we forgot him, he was a little sad around 300 :)
So I was up for work a little early with a puppy at my feet.
Took me a little longer to get ready today, but it sure was fun!!!
In the very short time we have had Rubin, he has become quite a pal to all of us.
He is very comfortable with any-one of the four of us.
He obviously was very well loved, before he came to us, b/c he sure is a LOVER with his new family.
Rubin is eating very well,
3 very good meals/day, and Danny is scheduling his well/new puppy visit today, for later this week. A few minor accidents,
but overall Rubin is doing VERY well with going "outside"
We will keep you updated with pictures as our "baby" grows
Again we ALL
want to thank you, very very much for our new family addition.
He is adored by all !!!!
Danny, Joni, Cody, and Ty….oh and Rubin
Have a GREAT DAY !!!
Hi Deb,
I had an appointment to
bring Ranger to the Vet on Saturday but pushed it up to today because he sounded wheezy and cough-ie. She gave him some
antibiotics for the Kennel Cough and told us to limit his activity for a week. Easier said then done.
Other then that, she said he's a healthy little guy and gave him his second round of shots. We also scheduled
him for his rabies shot next week to be followed up with the 3rd round of shots 2-3 weeks after that. His hernia is
shallow and, if needed, will be addressed when he's neutered.
The Vet gave him a frontline and
heartguard puppy pack and some good ole' snuggling. She thought he may have some Doberman in him too (who knows?!)
and thought he'd grow to be around 40 - 50 lbs. It's anyone's guess!
Ranger absolutely
adores his big brother Hogan. He follows him everywhere and mimics all of his behavior. Hogan seems a little shell
shocked, but is patient and gentle with Ranger, even when Ranger grabs hold of his tail, legs, ears, jowls, toys,
food bowl, bed, etc, etc, etc. He hops a little, and LOVES to run in circles around Hogan. He's quick.
We reinforced the fencing because one of his favorite pastimes is digging! He loves to dig and lay in the pit.
Don't know if he picked this up from Hogan or if it was hard-wired. Both love to lay in their pits under the one
tree we have in the back yard.
As for house training...Ranger's trained to go in the house
We rush him outside to poo-poo and pee but he just wanders. We refer to this random wandering as "Range
Roving"... He does pee on the pee-pee pads 90% of the time (poopie is another story) which is a
major achievement.
I've been working on "sit" which he's pretty good at. He's
okay with the collar and tolerates a leash, although walking on leash has not been tackled yet. He sleeps through the
night and we've crated him a few times (1 to 2 hour spans) when Paul and I had to run out or to work.
Ranger
loves Victoria, our 16 month old neighbor. They are really cute together. He licks her hand and sits at her feet.
We just love the little guy! He sure does pack a whole lot of personality into that little 15
lb (that's his weight as of today) body. We are so thankful to you and your crew for taking care of our boy.
He's the best! (PS: I think he likes us too )
Enjoy your weekend and rest assured that Ranger is livin' large in Stamford!
Love,
Sally, Paul, Hogan and Fred (the cat)
Hi Debbie and Christy!
Just wanted to give you an update on Moose. He's doing great. We love him. He's getting
much bigger and he's also found his voice and is quite a barker!! He's well loved all around campus and has finished
puppy kindergarten.
We
started basic manners w/ clicker training, but from what I've read about hounds, I think we might move to a more conventional
training method as Moose is very smart and gets bored in class very quickly. He's been up to Vermont and loves it.
We've enclosed three pictures -Moose and Kurt at the River behind the cabin, Me and Moose, and Moose catching tadpoles!
Today, back in MA, he went swimming in a lake in
North Andover and caught a fish!!! All by himself. He's truly wonderful and thank you so much!!!
Best,
Megan, Kurt, & Moose
UPDATE
Hi Deb and Christy,
We named Honeybear MOOSE!! AND WE LOVE HIM!!!!! He's also totally loved by everyone around, he's got so many new friends
and Aunties and Uncles. We are so happy and so excited and he's peeing and poo pooing outside and he's doing
it so well. We are so in love! Thank you so much!
Kurt, Megan, and Moosey!!!
Hello Deb and Chris:
I just wanted to update you on Walnut, now Buster. It's
been three months since you brought him home to us and I couldn't imagine a time when we didn't have him. He
is about 30 pounds now and extra long! We call him a stretch Beagle! He is totally house broken which didn't
take long thanks to Chris and her suggestion to throw the dirty towel outside and tell him that's where he goes.
It didn't take long before he was scratching the door telling us he had to go! His first few nights he cried in
his crate but it only took one night when I sat on the couch and told him "No" when he started crying to break him
of that behavior. Now he looks at us at night like aren't you going to bed? He is so smart and we are so proud.
My daughters are in love as he is in love with them. Buster is also a watch dog. He was here about a month when
one night he picked up his head, looked at the door and started barking. We were pleasantly surprised. I
said it was all that hanging around with the "big dogs"! Well we had Buster neutered and he did just fine.
He is all healed now. His Doctor said he went in to be neutered at 3:30 in the afternoon and was standing already at
4:15! I knew he wanted to come home but they kept him overnight for observation. He is now registered with the
Town of Edison and we're setting him up for his puppy classes at Petco. (Buster likes to go to Petco with us to
pick up his food and he actually looks in the tanks at the mice and ferrets!) He is such a pleasure to have. I
am sending a few pictures so you can see him now. Thank you again for bringing him to us and if you are in the area,
please feel free to come visit!
Mary Ann
You just made my day. Thanks!
I am sending a picture of Kathy and Max.
This is our new girl who is growing
very fast and is expected to be 40 POUNDS!! of course i still disagree and i think she will be 35 but hey the bigger the better
. Any way enjoy the pic's and hope you will put one up on the site.
Sincerely
James and the Corbett Family
She warmed right up to us and met some
of the family on sunday ... she is our little baby girl and thank you very much!
Have a good one
James
It's me Diamond, As you can see I'm doing great in my new home. It has been 6 months
now and I luv it here! We go for walks and rides and the neighbors bring their Rotti, Husky, & J. Russell over to visit
me all the time. My best friend is a Pit named Taz. I luv the horses and luv when visitors stop by to see me. I am a big goofball
and just can't get enough of my toys! Someday I hope to find a doggie friend that I can play with everyday....but dad
says NO that one dog is enough but I'm going to keep trying !
Hi Deb,
Just writing to let you know Diamond is doing really well. She is a Year and 3 Months now and has
grown in leaps and bounds. She is bold, stubborn, playful, affectionate, and quite a luv, just what I expected
from a Rottweiler. She has definitely found her place in the family and we love her very much. She
is quite the comedian as you will see from the pictures and has every toy imaginable to play with.....I would say she is pretty
spoiled. She definitely keeps me on my toes. She is a little "brute" so we often call her "THE DIAMONATOR"
rather than "Diamond". LOL! Hope all is well with the rescue. Enjoy the attached pictures and
Diamond says hello !
Janet, Paul, & Diamond
Hi Deb, We just wanted you to know our 'little
girl' is adjusting to her new home very nicely. The cats and her get along better than we expected in this short a time.
This morning when we woke up we were met with a bed full of toys, slippers, shoes, socks and the like that Sheba gathered
and brought back to bed with her for safe keeping.lol. Those articles you see on the bed are only half of what she had.
Sandy gathered up all our good shoes and slippers before I took the picture. We're so glad we adopted her we can't
say it enough, she's great. Be in touch again soon, Mike and Sandy.
UPDATE
Hi Deb and Steve,
We thought you might like an update
on Sheba (formerly Shashone). She has really become the love of our life. She is right at home here and has also become the
darling of the neigborhood kids. She is now 40 pounds of boundless love. Sandy thinks besides being shepherd/neufie mix she
could have some kangaroo blood also as she loves to run and leap all over the backyard. She is also becoming quite the lap
dog.
Thanks again, Mike and Sandy
UPDATE
Hi Debbi, These are the pictures of Sheba I was telling
you about. The first night she brought anything she could find to bed while we slept. Lap dog pics. Helping with the dishes,
two months apart. Look how much she has grown. We love her bunches. Thanks . Mike and Sandy.
Deb
After loosing Tina Marie to cancer we weren’t sure if we could get another rottie, then you brought
us Sammie. Thank you so much for finding us another wonderful dog!
Sammie has come a long way in a few months. When she came to us she was very skinny and
nervous around everyone. Now she is 20 pounds heavier and you can’t walk two steps without her wanting to be pet.
Sammie has also been wonderful with our new baby girl, Anella.
Here are a few pictures of Sammie, I hope you enjoy them!
Much Love,
Foxy is settling in nicely....................:)
She is such a mush....
Thanks Again
Linda and Rich
UPDATE
Hi
Just a Foxy update. She had her first dog obedience
class on Tuesday. She is such a sweetheart...we love her so much.
Thanks again!
Linda
UPDATE
Could you give up on this
girl? We can't!
This
is a picture taken at the Yonkers hospital where Foxy was taken to get better. She is home with us now but still can't
walk. When we rushed her to this fantastic animal center in Yonkers,N.Y.One day she was fine, the next day she was having
seizers was blind and couldn't walk. She is only 2 years old.We just can't give up on this girl. Your prayers
are our only hope.
Thanks
Linda, Rich,Maggie and of course
FOXY.
Hi Deb, here is a great shot we finally took of Einstein
and Christopher together. What a pair they are! Einstein is quite hyper these days, like he got a new spurt of
energy...so this is rare for him to sit long enough for a great photo!
Dear
Deb,
It has just been quite a year. Jillian is much loved and
just a super girl. Attached is a picture of Jillian out playing with friends in the salt meadow by the
beach.
Best regards,
Barb
Thank you
so much for Ace we love him already!!! He will be great in this family and get lots of love and attention!!! Thanks again,
Kristin
We would like to induce you to Kemo
. Kemo is a sweet, energetic, petite girl. She is a Rottie/Shepherd Mix although she looks like a Rottie. She can sit on command
both verbal and non-verbal. She listens to “No” very well. She also comes when called. She would do well in a
multi-animal or child home, though I think she would also enjoy being the only one. She currently lives with 4 children, ranging
in ages from 2 to 11, a male Rottie and two male cats. She is a pleasure with everyone. She is very loving and will offer
up kisses to anyone who wants one. She gets along with other animals outside the house also. She enjoys car rides and being
outside. She does okay on a lead but needs some practice. She doesn't pull but she will walk side to side checking everything
out. Kemo is working on her housetraining. She has been doing exceptionally well after living at a shelter for most of her
life. She is a very well behaved young girl.
Kemo's dream came true when a wonderful lady took her into her home forever. Kemo will
receive all the love she deserves.
Thank
you Jennifer!!!!
This sweet three year old boy, wants
only to please. He is crate trained, housebroken, likes children, other dogs and ignores cats. This big boy is
large but not tough, he will lay on his back immediately for belly rubs.
He has found his forever home in CT. He goes on long walks, is learning
to kayak with his new family. Bear is diffidently in heaven.
Thank you Steven!!
This three year old male that was
taken to the NJ shelter with a bullet wound in his neck. His owner just didn't want a dog anymore and thought a
bullet was the answer. Travis is crate trained, housebroken, easy on a leash and knows his commands when there is a
treat involved.
Travis
found his forever home with a wonder man that will walk him and also take him to work with him, so Travis will never be alone.
Thank you Debi!!
This very active 20 month old Shepherd/Rottie
mix, his mother, siblings and father were brought into a shelter in New York. His mother is a small Shepherd mix named Tara
and her father was a large Rottweiler. Zeus is crate trained and watches cat, not knowing what they are. He is a little shy
but loves all the dogs in his foster home and the children in the neighborhood. His favorite pass times are playing, eating
and getting as many belly rubs has he can. He is learning to walk on a leash and is doing quit well.
One day Zeus found himself alone, without
any of his siblings. He was lonely and very unhappy until the family that adopted his sister (Princess) called and asked
to adopt him also. He could not believe it when his foster mommy took him to strange home and when he was taken inside
his sister was there. He would be happy forever.
Thank you Debi!!!!!
Just another update....a happier one.
Dakota is beginning to adjust well....thanks to the affects of Rescue Remedy. She
is quite a different dog this week and has actually found a friend at Doggie Day Care in a Doberman...they even have the same
Vet! Her other friend who only comes on Friday is a big black fuzzy thing. So, she's leaning toward look-alike friends
(much like horses do).
She can walk
on the leash now and not pull and wait for me to go first (a big thing with me), when walking she reliably sits when I stop,
knows how to give paw easily, reliably sits every time asked (she sort of had this one down before), is working on laying
down (She's almost there but has a problem with it...a past issue that I'm dowsing about), she doesn't take her
treat until she hears the OK (she sort of had this before but now she doesn't cower about it...she stands proud and waits),
she uses her crate with the new crate pad her mother put in there as her dog house off the kitchen and finds it cozy these
days (as long as the door isn't closed...which it doesn't anymore anyway), she doesn't need to be with Mom continually
as long as she knows where Mom is, she can stay in the downstairs bathroom with a baby gate at the door for four hours and
be quiet. We've made A LOT of progress. She's progressed from carrying two chew bones around with her wherever she
went to actually biting the head off of one of them.
It's been an exceptionally rough couple of weeks, but I'm seeing progress. The homeopathic remedy
is short acting, and that's at issue. BUT progress is progress, and I think we're doing fine considering the time
element involved. She most clearly understands when I say "No" and stops whatever she's doing immediately, and
she is most exceptionally house-trained...woke me up at 3AM to let her out the other night.
She stays with the Vet over the weekend. Since I didn't receive the rabies certificate
from you, the Vet will be revaccinating her because the call to the other Vet didn't confirm that the vaccine was given.
I've asked the Vet to examine the anxiety issue and provide insight. I think it could be better addressed with medication
and homeopathics for breakthrough, but I'll abide by what she says.
So, bottom line this week....because I see her progress, and because she, in her heart of hearts,
is a cuttey-pie waiting for rebirth, I think she might just be a keeper. She has a good soul!
More next week....
Carol Ann
I thought you might enjoy some
updated picture of Tiny Tina, now known as Tina Marie.
She has really settled in to our house and family. Though we have a big back yard
all she wants to do is be with use or her "grandparents". She enjoys long walks every night and a lot of play
time with her stuffed animals. Joe
and I often comment that we don't know what we would do if we didn't have her. She is the center of our world!
Thank you for her!
Joseph and Keri-Ann
This wonderful six (or so) year old Lab mix is a
love. She came from California to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in May '01 at approximately a year old. She loves attention
even if that means she has to admire herself in the mirror. Vanilla loves to go to the groomers. Vanilla has found her forever home with a wonderful couple in
NJ. They have just purchased their home, so the couple and Vanilla can enjoy this new experience together.
Thank you Deb!!
UPDATE
Hello
Deb and Steve!
Just wanted to drop you a quick note and give you an update
on Vanilla. We still can't believe it's been almost 5 months now since we first saw her in the tub at Petco!
Now we bring her back to Petco on a regular basis to be groomed and let her roam around the store in search for the perfect
treat!
Vanilla has been doing a lot of traveling with us. We attached some
pictures from our trip to Maine over the summer. Vanilla wasn't eager to go into the water, but enjoyed the sandy
beach immensely! What could be better than running on the beach with other new dog friends!
Hope
all is going well at the Rottie Connection. We noticed all those cute lab puppies you're getting - they're so
precious! We just so happy that we now have Vanilla in our lives! We can't begin to thank you enough.
Please take care, and we'll be looking forward to sending you our next Vanilla update in the near future....
Warm Wishes,
Nicole and Jeff

Thank you Steven!!!!
Yes, say his name by spelling the
word out. But, did the original owner call him Dee-oh-gee. or Dog? He answers to both. This old boy is a
wonderful dog. Around eight years old, he shows his maturity. He is calm, obedient and loves his humans.
He has his CGC certificate and gets along with all of the dogs at his fosters.
D.O.G. is house trained, crate trained, ignores cats. loves
his walks, and loves to play with his big red ball.
D.O.G. has found his forever family on the island in New York. He will be loved
not only by his human part of the family, but also his new rottie sister. D.O.G. is very happy that he will be able
to spend the rest of his ageing years loved and cared for.
Thank you Steven!!
Through our second chance program, we were
able to help and cure this wonderful big boy. Max came to us with Heartworms, Lyme disease and an eye problem called
Entropian. The owners knew this as they signed the surrender forms. We took Max to the vet the next day and found
out the awful truth, Max was a very sick dog. We pulled him through all of this because of a wonderful Volunteer: Carol
Hansen.
She cared for this
wonderful boy night and day for over a year. During this time her son and his family fell in love with Max and adopted
him.
Max is now living
with his new family in New Jersey and if they go somewhere Max gets to visit his grandma: Carol Hansen who also loves this
dog dearly.
Thank you Carol for saving Max.
