This must be read before filling out the adoption application.

Applicants must be 21 years of age or older to submit an application.

The adoption fee is as follows:  Ages 0 - 1 year is $350.00; ages 1 year - 5 years is $300.00 and ages 5 years -10 years is $150.

The adoption fees are used to cover the cost of medical treatments incurred while the dog has been in the possession of The Rottie Connection, prior to adoption. We may pull a dog from a shelter that is healthy and we may only have to spend a small amount of money to have that dog ready for adoption. The “profit” from that dog is applied to the vetting costs of the many others who are not so fortunate. When we bring dogs into the rescue, the funds are spent on neutering/spaying, vaccines, screening for Heartworm (HW) and fecal. Dogs that come into the rescue also have to be given medications to handle Hook, Whip, or Tape worms. We pay for dogs that have pneumonia, HW, or to set broken bones, treat illnesses and injuries, do dental work, etc. There are times the fee for a dog that is not healthy starts as low as $100 and could be as high as $5000 or more depending on the problem. I can honestly tell you our rescue has paid $2500 on one dog and $5000 on another dog.  There was surgery that had to be done and with that there is blood work, anesthesia, and medications for after the surgery, IV’s, etc. Who pays for these services? The services are paid for by the adoption fee, donations, and fundraisers. I personally do not know of any Rescue Groups that are in this to make money or break even. This adoption fee and donations also helps to cover new programs, such as Second Chance.

As with any new pet, there will be a short adjustment period when your new dog comes into your home. When you commit to an adoption, we expect that you will work with your new dog and make a sincere effort to tackle any problems that may arise not only during this adjustment period, but also throughout the dog’s life. We may be able to offer you some suggestions to help you and your dog through any adjustments or problems. Occasionally, despite the best efforts of all involved, an adoption does not work out. In this case, the dog must be returned to us as stipulated in the adoption agreement. If the dog is returned within three days, there is a full refund. If the dog is returned within seven days, then there is a 50% refund, and past seven days, no refund.

The Rottie Connection attempts to place our dogs in the best possible home environments. To that end, several interviews (including a telephone interview, review of the adoption application and a home visit to see where the dog will live, play and exercise) will be held between the prospective owners and The Rottie Connection volunteers and/or representatives.

The interviews and application will help the Adoption Coordinator and the foster parents determine which dog is the most suitable for each applicant.

PLEASE NOTE:  A submitted application does not guarantee adoption of a dog from The Rottie Connection, nor does the application guarantee that the dog an applicant would LIKE to adopt from The Rottie Connection is the one that is best suited to meet their needs.  The Rottie Connection reserves the right to offer the dog that they feel is best suited to match the application.

Adoptive families must agree to: periodic follow-up calls and visits during their first year of ownership, providing medical treatment when necessary, all annual booster vaccinations at the clinic of their choice as recommended by their vet and as required by city/county/state law, providing regular heartworm preventative, and keeping the dog contained and not allowing the dog to run loose at any time.

The Rottie Connection places dogs as primarily indoor dogs, and adoptive families should plan for their dog to be indoors when they are not home.

The Rottie Connection is committed to our dogs, and requires that they be returned to The Rottie Connection in the event they cannot – at any time – remain in their new home.

PLEASE NOTE: Not all dogs appearing on the website will necessarily be available for adoption at the time an application is submitted.

Submission of your application confirms that you have read and understood the adoption procedures and indicates your agreement to abide by The Rottie Connection terms of adoption.  If yes then click on the tag below.
